5 Reasons Custom Paint by Numbers Makes a Thoughtful Personalised Gift

GIFT GUIDE • PERSONALISED • INFORMATIONAL

A custom paint-by-numbers project can make a thoughtful gift because it combines a personal photo with a relaxing creative activity and a finished piece of wall art. The format is especially appealing for portraits, couples, families, pets and memorable travel photos.

Availability note: Paint by Numbers products are currently unavailable online at StringArt.lv while we review and update this catalogue. This guide remains available to help you understand the format and choose a suitable photo. If you need a personalised creative gift now, browse RingString photo string art, QBRIX and Mozabrick photo construction sets, or personalised Diamond Painting kits.

5 reasons a custom paint-by-numbers gift can be memorable

1. It starts with a photo that already means something

A pet, wedding portrait, family photo or travel memory gives the project a personal story before painting even begins. Unlike a generic decorative print, the finished picture is connected to a real person, place or moment.

2. The format is approachable for beginners

Paint-by-numbers is designed around a numbered canvas and matching paint areas, so the process is easier to follow than starting a painting from a blank surface. The creative value comes from spending time on the picture rather than needing advanced drawing skills.

3. It creates a screen-free activity

Painting can be a slower, hands-on activity for an evening or weekend. Many people enjoy the visible sense of progress as individual numbered areas gradually form the complete image.

4. The finished project can become personal décor

Once completed, the painting can be displayed as a reminder of the original photo. That makes the format work both as an activity and as a keepsake for a bedroom, living room or creative space.

5. It can fit many gift occasions

The same idea can be adapted to birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, housewarmings, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas or another personal occasion simply by choosing a photo connected to the recipient.

Photos that work best for personalised creative art

• Use a sharp, well-lit image whenever possible.
• Choose a clear main subject rather than a very crowded scene.
• For portraits, make sure faces are large enough to recognise easily.
• Avoid very dark photos, strong blur and heavy filters.
• If several people appear in the image, a tighter crop usually preserves more useful detail.

Gift ideas by recipient

For a partner: choose a wedding, engagement, holiday or travel photo. For parents or grandparents: family portraits and photos of children or grandchildren can be especially meaningful. For a pet lover: a clear dog or cat portrait works naturally. For a friend: use an image connected to a shared event, trip or memorable year.

Frequently asked questions

Can I currently order a custom Paint by Numbers kit from StringArt.lv?

Not at the moment. The Paint by Numbers catalogue is currently unavailable online while it is reviewed and updated. We do not want to present an ordering process that is not currently available.

What personalised photo gift can I order instead?

RingString, RingString Mini, QBRIX, Mozabrick and personalised Diamond Painting options are available in the current creative-photo catalogue. Choose the format according to whether the recipient prefers thread art, construction, mosaic-style work or another hands-on activity.

What kind of photo should I keep for a future Paint by Numbers project?

A clear, well-lit photo with a recognisable main subject is the safest choice. Portraits, couples, pets and family photos generally work better when important faces and details are not too small in the frame.

Is a creative photo project a good surprise gift if I am unsure which photo to choose?

It can be. Some current StringArt.lv formats, including RingString, allow the recipient to choose the photo later. That can preserve the surprise while letting the person select the memory they value most.
